Reading Habits Meme

This meme has been floating around the blogisphere for a while and I finally caved. Mostly I was bored and wanted something to multitask to while watching past episodes of House (LOVE that show!).

So here they are, my reading habits. Not all of them are probably the best, but they work for me! Though, I probably should be reading now instead of watching TV on my computer…

Do you snack while you read? If so, favourite reading snack?
Sure, if I’m hungry and I’m reading I’ll eat while I read. However, I don’t have a favourite snack; I’ll eat whatever I’m eating at the time or whatever is being served for dinner.

What is your favourite drink while reading?
Like food, I don’t have a favourite; I’ll just drink whatever I want at the time.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
Oh my god it horrifies me unless it’s a university textbook.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
I’ll use a bookmark or whatever piece of paper is handy or I’ll lay it flat but I will never dog-ear a book. Ever.

Fiction, non-fiction, or both?
I prefer fiction but I’m not going to say no to a good non-fiction biography.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?
I can stop anywhere but if I can I’ll finish the book… even if it takes me until the early morning hours!

Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you?
I never have… yet, but sometimes I really want to. Really, really want to.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?
I can usually figure out what it means by comparing it to the context in which it’s used.

What are you currently reading?
The Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard and Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

What is the last book you bought?
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick when I went to Costco. I forgot to add that one to my last IMM… oops. Next week!

Are you the type of person that reads one book at a time, or can you read more than one?
I’m usually reading more than one book at a time but lately I’ve cut it back to one. Although I do have a few that I started a few months ago that I have yet to finish… I should get on that.

Do you have a favourite time/place to read?
Anytime, any place, anywhere. I’m notorious for tuning out everything and everyone around me while reading.

Do you prefer series books or stand alones?
Both. Either. I just love books.

Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?
The Hunger Games, Katie MacAlister books, the Uglies trilogy, and so many more I can’t even remember.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author's last name, etc.)
By genre, then author, then size. It all has to look pleasing to the eye and be easy to find.

I've heard so many great things about The Hunger Games that I'm really beginning to think that I should just go out and get myself the book series. Enjoyed reading this, think I'll take up this meme and do it too :)

Oh, and I loved Hush, Hush - it was a great read. :)

Oh I know exactly what you mean! That wig is horrid. I'm just hoping the fight scenes are done well.
