Oh Kate Brian, you did it again. I honestly think that I will never tire of reading these books. There’s just so much drama and mystery and intrigue and horror. I mean, WTF is Kaitlynn doing back? It’s like she’s asking for it, if you ask me. Why else would you egg on a girl who has murdered several people just to get what she wants?

I must admit that though Kaitlynn’s arrival threw a wrench into Arianna’s plans, having her there kept me turning the pages with bated breath. I couldn’t wait to see what she would do next. Plus, her being there with the initial tappings for the Stone and Grave going on, I wasn’t sure what would happen.

I loved reading about the initiation activities for the secret society and seeing just how far they tried to push Arianna. I also loved her blooming romance with Palmer and the conflicts that it caused with Lexa and everyone else.

The only complaint that I have about this book was that it was a little lacking compared to the rest. It was still great, but it just doesn’t have the oomph that the others do. As far as the series goes, this was a great filler book and it was needed and still fantastic. Plus, the ending alone is well worth the read. Oh, and the part with the cows.

I’m giving this a 7/10 and I can’t wait to finish reading the series and read the Private books.

No one knows how or why Dan died, and everyone at St. Tabby’s believes Scarlett had something to do with it. But now that she’s safely hidden away at Wakefield Hall, Scarlett would rather forget that it ever happened. Only she can’t. Especially when she receives an anonymous note that will set her on the path to clearing her name and finding out what really happened to the first and last boy she kissed.

This review is more than long overdue but I’ve been reading so many amazing books and trying to write my 2010 debut novel reviews, so this book sort of fell by the wayside until now.

Scarlett as a character was an alright person to me, but I wasn’t keen on her to the point of, is she were real, being her friend. At this point, the fact that I can barely remember her (aside from how she ditched her friends to hang out with the popular crowd) goes to show just how great she was in that respect. Now, the story on the other hand; it’s fantastic.

I loved the mystery that surrounded this book and the characters. I couldn’t wait to find out what had happened in order to make Dan die – though I had an inkling since I had read the summaries for the next two books – but I wanted to know for myself the exact details.

See, this is why I should write reviews as soon as I’m finished reading them. I’m at a complete loss of words for how to properly review this book. So, because of my lack of memory, I’m giving this a 6/10. But as an added note for this book, I can’t wait to read the rest in the series.

A Year in Review

I started this blog and faithfully blogging on March 10, 2010. Since then I’ve only missed a handful of days and I’ve reviewed over 150 books and almost 40 movies/television shows and this is my 400th post. As far as this blog is concerned, this year was fantastic and a real journey. I don’t think I’ve read this many books and talked about them (granted to cyberspace) ever; most of my friend’s zone out when I start talking literature.

But really, I would have never thought that I would have over 100 followers, or have been contacted by authors, been sent books, or get a chance to read a novel before it was published. I also, before this year, didn’t know that there were fellow book worms out there who wanted to review and talk about what they were reading let alone that they were blogging on the internet. Hell, I didn’t know that book blogs even existed.

In short, 2010 was amazing and I can’t wait to see what 2011 brings. Hopefully I’ll be at BEA, read some more phenomenal books, and keep blogging.

So to everyone who’s reading this, have a great New Year and be safe tonight. If you’re going to drink in celebration, remember not to drive, but have fun and try to get that midnight kiss wherever you are.
